Field Applications Specialist (M/F/d) Cell Culture/Cell Therapy

Field-based role in Germany or Austria


This is a field-based role which will involve regular travel (on average, 2 to 3 days per week) to meet customers across the territory.

When not travelling, they will work from home.

We are considering applicants based anywhere in Germany or Austria providing they are within commuting distance of an international airport.

Key Responsibilities Include:


  • Supporting the sales process for BioProduction cell culture media and cell line products and services partnering with the local sales team
  • Establishing relationship with target customers by building technical credibility and engaging in technical dialogue
  • Handling customer queries/complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Giving feedback on technical challenges and their respective solutions and sharing expertise & knowledge amongst the team
  • Representing BioProduction services, products and overall value proposition in Scientific Forums by attending and actively participating in technical conferences and local customer seminars
  • Performing implementation programs to ensure that the solution reaches maximum capacity efficiently at customer lab within a satisfactory time
  • Maintaining up to date technical expertise on products and industry trends
  • Collaborating closely with Global Cell Culture team to contribute to quality strategies, product development or strategic business development activities and quality or operational documentation
  • Writing technical reports following customer interactions and keep constant track of customers projects
  • Becoming a strong internal voice of customers and their advocate

People Specification:


  • Bachelors or higher degree in a related field (Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioprocess/Chemical Engineering). Masters or PhD is preferred
  • Commercial awareness and being able to work in line with the goals of a matrixed commercial organization
  • Validated experience in media and upstream process development
  • Knowledge about cell line development is advantageous
  • Previous experience of the biopharmaceutical industry and/or GMP manufacturing, process scale up and optimization is advantageous
  • Understanding and practice with commonly used bioreactors and control systems to be able to optimize and troubleshoot bioreactor parameters
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to present technical content to small and large audiences
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work independently
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time
  • Proficient in English and in another European language such as German is needed
  • Full, clean driving license
