Jessica Kennedy

My name is Jessica Kennedy and I have been a passionate photographer for many years now. The majority of my work involves photographing people and animals in nature. I am always inspired by beautiful morning and evening light, mountain scenery and people’s emotions, skills and connections.

I love capturing both conventional photographs as well as artistic ones, which may focus on the subject’s emotion, the light, an abstract angle, or using depth of field creatively. I am happy to be out in all weather conditions, and I believe that sometimes poor weather can yield the most interesting photographs.

I am an Australian citizen though I moved to Tirol with my family in 2022. We love the mountain lifestyle and opportunities here, and in August 2023 we welcomed our second child to our family.

I have worked as a freelance sports photographer in Australia for several years, photographing the equine sport of eventing. I also worked as an equine portrait photographer during this time. To photograph eventing, you must have knowledge of the sport as only then do you know what horsey people want to see in their photographs. I travelled to many horse trials (eventing competitions) and photographed mostly the jumping phases of competition (cross country and showjumping), as these were the images that riders would want to purchase. 

I currently use a Nikon D800E full frame camera, and have the following lenses: Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8FL, Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8, Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART. I do hope to upgrade my camera body to a mirrorless one soon.
