for Performance and Theatre Studies

The appointment is for a permanent position.)
The Mozarteum University Salzburg (MOZ) is looking for a committed scholar in theatre and performance studies with a proven international and transdisciplinary profile.
The successful candidate will have a research focus on contemporary global theatre and performance arts (possibly with an emphasis on the role of performing arts for democracy and freedom), including transcultural aspects, with further expertise in one or more specialized areas.
The applicant will have a track record of excellence in the field, supported by innovative theoretical-methodological approaches, and a demonstrable commitment to teaching at all levels, including Diploma, BA, MA and PhD.
Professional experience in the artistic field of theatre/performance is desirable.
The applicant will be expected to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within Mozarteum University Salzburg as well as in an inter-institutional context with the Department of History of Art, Music and Dance at the University of Salzburg (PLUS) and the inter-university organization science and art (MOZ and PLUS).
The first task will be the (co-)development of an artistic-academic MA programme «Performance Studies/Dramaturgy», implemented as an interuniversity co-operation between MOZ and PLUS.
»Additional employment requirements
a completed domestic or equivalent foreign university education (doctorate) in theatre and performance studies or a closely related field, as appropriate to the position
relevant habilitation (venia docendi/venia legendi) or equivalent scholarly qualification or achievements
a strong research portfolio, as demonstrated by a record of scholarly publications in reputable journals and academic presses, and recognised standing within the international scholarly community
experience in developing and managing inter- and transdisciplinary research projects
experience in securing external research funding
proven excellence in university teaching, with experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Substantial teaching experience.
competence in gender and anti-discrimination issues
strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage professionally with students, colleagues, and the wider community
good written and spoken German and English
In addition, the following is expected
willingness and ability to take on leadership roles and to participate in departmental and university committees,
a commitment to sustainability
to choose the Salzburg region as their place of residence
Remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement for university employees in the A1 category and currently amounts to at least EUR 6,362.50 gross monthly salary at the basic level (at 100% employment level).
Travel and accommodation costs associated with the interview and selection processes will not be reimbursed.
